The section about estates is unfortunately now completely outdated after Paradox completely reworked the estates system and some of the idea group metas have changed so don't take his word on ideas as gospel if you're playing on the current version of the game. While some of the sections are now outdated, it really gives a good guide to how successful diplo is performed in competitive EU4 multiplayer games. If you've never read it, I highly recommend reading through Tornado's Comprehensive Hardcore Multiplayer Guide. If you've never played multiplayer EU4 before, I do not recommend starting out as Austria as it's one of the most difficult majors to play in my opinion.

EU4 MULTIPLAYER GUIDE STEAM REDDIT HOW TO

This is not a beginner's tutorial to EU4, I'm going to assume that you already know how to play the game and have played multiplayer at least once and are familiar with some of the concepts. This is what has and hasn't worked for me in this group so far. The group that I play with is semi-serious I'd say, we have some players who play majors and are very competitive, and others who prefer to just play minors and cozy up to the nearest major power that will befriend them. While I obviously acknowledge that there's more than one way to play any given country I'm going to focus in on how I play as them. I'm going to be writing based on my personal play style. Take any guide you read on the internet with a grain of salt but I've had my fair share of triumphs and defeats as the Habsburgs, and considering that in the multiplayer games I usually play in with my discord group I watch most players who are new to Austria crash and burn (and usually leave after a session or two), I decided to at least give some advice about the country based on what I've learned while playing them. If I told you that I knew everything about Austria and every single EU4 mechanic I'd also be lying. If I sat here and told you that I'm the best mp Austria player, I'd be lying. I have over 1,400 hours in EU4 at the time of writing this and at least 100s of hours playing as Austria most of which has been in multiplayer. My name is Ty and I believe that Austria is the most interesting, thrilling, and rewarding country to play in Europa Universalis IV multiplayer games.
